A DREAM COME TRUE
I was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains and have always had a passion for the outdoors and the wildlife that resides there. As a kid, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always a wildlife artist. That was the dream.
I spent time working for my dad who was a general contractor. I was practically raised on the job site and learned a lot of skills that have benefited me throughout my life. However, at age 22 I reached a point where I had to make a decision whether to chase my dream of becoming an artist, or follow in my dad’s footsteps in the construction industry. While I was grateful for the time spent and lessons learned in construction, the decision was an easy one. After looking for a few weeks, I found a job with a company as a graphic designer.
I worked for that company for two years then went on my own as a freelance designer. Over the next decade I did contract work for many companies inside and out of the hunting industry. I’ve even had the opportunity to co-found a few businesses including a marketing firm called Zulu Six, the outdoor supplement company Mtn Ops, and Hoofit Socks. I’ve learned a lot from the failures and successes experienced there. I still help manage Hoofit and work for other clients where I specialize in design and illustration for products and branding.
I always wondered if there was still a possibility that I could be successful as a fine artist. In early 2017, I decided to give it a go—and it has been a blast!
I love the look and feel of black and white. For over a year I worked almost strictly in white charcoal on black art board, but in early 2019 I decided to expand my horizons and I picked up a paint brush. I wish I hadn’t waited so long because it was love at first brush stroke.
I love creating art and really enjoy seeing the pleasure others experience in viewing my artwork. I have so many ideas and projects I want to develop and I hope to be doing this for a very long time.
Thank you all for your support!
